Der Standard hat eine niedliche Fotostrecke mit Feldhamstern zum heutigen Tag des Artenschutzes. Allerdings ist das, was der Storch auf Bild 2 gefangen hat KEIN Feldhamster, da auch junge Feldhamster (und von der Größe her müsste es ein Jungtier sein) schon einen schwarzen Bauch haben während das Beutetier des Storchs einen hellen Bauch hat. Außerdem ist der Schwanz im Vergleich zur Körperlänge zu lang für einen Feldhamster. Dürfte wohl irgendeine Maus sein.
At least in the German-speaking world it's "Tag des Artenschutzes" today even though "wildlife conservation day", "endangered species day" and "threatened species day" seem to be on different dates around the world and I fail to find the correct English aeqivalent.
So, the Austrian newspaper "DerStandard" has a little photo gallery of European hamster photos. Note that the animal caught by the stork on pic 2 is NOT a European hamster, though. It does not have a black belly and the tail seems to be too long for a hamster, either. Must be some kind of mouse or something.
